The title of my collection is ⌈La Porcelaine • 花瓶⌋. My inspiration stemmed from an ancient Chinese saying that females should be dressed properly and daintily, remain pretty, poised and perfect in appearance while staying silent and hollow in personality, much like a Chinese vase. With the metaphor still being used nowadays to describe females, this idea bloomed in my head, inspiring me to explore this problematic belief further and how it creates a discordance between my Chinese and modern-progressive identities.
